Can Bitcoin Surpass $200,000 This Year?
Demand is high, supply is exhausted
Matt Hougan, chief investment officer of digital asset management company Bitwise, has just made a bold prediction: Bitcoin could surpass the $200,000 mark by the end of 2025 , an increase of more than 70% compared to current levels.
He explained that supply on exchanges has fallen to multi-year lows, indicating that “sellers have almost dried up.”
At the same time, demand from large institutions, governments and ETFs is growing .
Pressure from the fiat money system
Hougan emphasized that amid declining confidence in the traditional monetary system, Bitcoin is emerging as a reliable hedge asset . He shared:
“As supply shrinks while institutional demand increases and concerns about fiat increase, it is a recipe for a strong rally at the end of the year.”
Will Bitcoin reach gold price this decade?
Going further, Hougan believes that Bitcoin's market capitalization could be on par with gold by 2030.
Bitwise previously predicted the price to be around $800,000, but now estimates it could be as high as $1.2 million due to rising gold prices.
“We think gold parity is where Bitcoin will reach at the end of this cycle, which lasts the entire decade.”
Bitcoin is currently trading at around $117,110 , according to data at the time of writing.
